Our School's Music Curriculum

  • Quaver's Marvelous World of Music-Quaver is our school system's music curriculum. Each student has a login and is encouraged to explore Quaver activities at home and in their free time! 

Aural Training



  • Global Groovin’–create a world-music mix with drag and drop instruments, beats, and sounds

  • BBC Cave Sounds—create a cave-sound mix with drag and drop sounds

  • Classics for Kids Compose Your Very Own Music—compose 4 measures of music in 4/4 time

  • Arts Alive Compose Music—compose a 9 note melody

  • PBS Martha Speaks Make the Band—choose the instruments, vocalists, rhythm and tempo for the band to play

  • PBS Shock’s Beatbox—create a beat box composition

  • SFS Kids Composerizer—drag and drop measures in the order you choose to compose a piece

  • Do Le Me–play and record your own melody on this tone ladder (note:  the syllable “le” is used in place of “re” and “si” in place of “ti” which can be confusing for those trained in traditional solfege)

  • Online Piano Machine–play a melody on an octave keyboard, record it, and see it written on a staff

  • Boomthang–play and record your own mix

  • Science on Music–compose music in a virtual kitchen, learn about accoustics, and create a remix

  • PBS Cyberchase Pattern Player–create visual and melodic musical patterns

  • Chrome Music Lab-this website allows students to explore different musical concepts such as rhythm, beat, pitch, and sound waves visually. It's very easy to use and learn. 

  • incredibox-change the outfits of the performers in order to create your own composition! 

  • Dubstep Creator-make your own dubstep track and be a star!

  • Building Beats-a 501(c)3 organization out of Brooklyn, NY that encourages young people to find their passion as a DJ or explore Music Production. This is their teacher toolbox with lots of websites that help kids create their own beats.

Standards of Excellence by Kjos Music

Discover the method book used by the band program and purchase one online for yourself if you need one.

Kjos Interactive Practice Studio

You can get a 12-month subscription to this in order to practice at home with access to practice recordings and have access to tons of resources and goodies geared toward your instrument. There is no error detection like on SmartMusic, and it is only for the method book we use in class, but it may be more affordable to some families.

Music For All

The organization that is the umbrella organization of Bands of America and the I-65 Corridor Project the Blue Regiment is taking part in along with bands in other parts of Alabama, Tennesee, Kentucky, and Indiana to help bands in urban areas.

SmartMusic is a web-based suite of music education tools that support efficient practice, helping musicians to develop and grow.

Fingering Charts

A link to the Davie County High School Band's (Mocksville, NC) downloadable fingering charts. Find the one for your instrument and print it off or download it and learn more new notes! 

Transposition Chart

A link to the Long Branch High School (Arlington, VA) band website. This transposition chart will help you know which note on the piano plays the same note as your instrument. Remember, the piano is a C (Concert Pitch) Instrument. All of the other instruments are listed by transposition on this page.
