For the month of October we are going to learn fun facts about pumpkins. Did you know:

  • Pumpkins are actually a fruit but when it comes to cooking they are often referred to as a vegetable
  • You can roast pumpkin seeds and eat them
  • A carved pumpkin illuminated by candles is called a jack-o-lantern
  • Pumpkins are usually organge but can be yellow, white, green or red
  • As a food, pumpkin can be baked, roasted, steamed or boiled
  • The name pumpkin comes from a Greek word meaning large melon
