EDMONDS
  • I , Ashley Edmonds, am deeply committed to the success and growth of both students and the community and have been throughout the entirety of my career of 14 years within Tarrant City Schools.. Throughout my career, I have had the unique and honorable opportunity to teach in every school across the  district, gaining invaluable insight into the needs, strengths, and potential of each school across our district, as well as serving in leadership at two of our schools (Assistant Principal at Tarrant Intermediate and Principal at Tarrant Elementary). My broad experience has shaped my approach to leadership, fostering a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students and the importance of building strong relationships within the community.

As an educator, I have always been passionate about creating inclusive, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences that empower students to succeed. I firmly believe that every child can thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment, and their leadership is centered around the idea that the success of the school is intrinsically linked to the success of the community as a whole.

Dedicated to continuous improvement, I work closely with teachers, staff, parents, and community partners to ensure that Tarrant Elementary School remains a place where students not only achieve academically, but also develop the skills, confidence, and character necessary to become compassionate, responsible, and successful individuals within our community..

I am so  proud to be part of a community that values education and works collaboratively to provide the best opportunities for ALL students. I look forward to continuing to build on the school's legacy of success and making a positive impact on the lives of children for years to come.

  • Dear Tarrant Families,

My name is Shana Brown, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Tarrant Elementary School.

At Tarrant Elementary School, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment to meet the needs of all students. Our dedicated faculty and staff are here to support and guide each student along their educational journey.

Before working at Tarrant City Schools School, I began my career in education as a classroom teacher for Birmingham City Schools. I spent 5 wonderful years as a Learning Specialist at Tarrant Intermediate School. I also served as a Special Education Coach for the district. I received my Bachelor's degree in Collaborative Education from Birmingham-Southern College, where I played for the women's lacrosse team. I received a Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In most recent years, I received my Post Master's certificate and Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama.

Personally, I am married to my husband, Addison, and we have two big dogs. I love watching sports, especially hockey (Go Devils) and football (Roll Tide). I also enjoy eating at all of the  restaurants in the Birmingham area, going to concerts, listening to podcasts, and being at the beach.

I look forward to a successful school year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable experiences for all!
