I am Andrea Cockrell-Gibbs. I graduated from Miles College Undergrad with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2009.  This is my 16^th year teaching. I have taught pre-k, kindergarten, 2^nd grade, and 3^rd grade; my passion is 6th grade.  I love reading and enjoy learning new ways and techniques to teach the science of reading. I recently completed my Master of Education in English Second Language at UAB. I am transitioning into my new role as the ESL teacher for 5th grade and 6th grade. I am both excited and humbled to receive the award as the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year for TIS. 

 

I am an enthusiastic person and I have a positive outlook on life. I love my job and get a great sense of achievement from seeing my students develop and grow. I do not take the opportunity I have been given to shape the minds of our future lightly.  "At any cost is the motto I live by" I will do whatever it takes to reach my students where they are and make a difference in their lives. I love teaching and there is nothing in this world I would rather do or be than an Educator. I am so proud to be a WILDCAT!!
